Students of Dr. M.G.R. FC&RI, Ponneri conducted NSS special camp (07 -13 th August 2018) at Devempattu village

The NSS special camp for the third year B.F.Sc students was inaugurated on 07 th August 2018 in the presence of Dr. Cheryl Antony, Students Coordinator, Mr. Ravi, Ornamental farmer, Mr. M. Kalaiarasan, NSS Programme Officer, Mr. P. Velmurugan, Asst. Professor. The camp lasted for 7 days and the students were involved in the following activities:
(a) First day: Students distributed eye camp bit notices in and around the Devampattu village
(b) Second day: Veterinary camp was conducted in the village. Two veterinary doctors were assisted by students. Villagers brought around 200
ruminants (cows, buffaloes and goats) for vaccination.
(c) Third day: Tree plantation program was conducted by the students and encouraged the villagers to plant (150 no. of trees) at various places in the village. The village people also worked enthusiastically along with students and helped in planting trees.
(d) Fourth day: Cleaning program was undertaken and cleared off the plastics from the surroundings and made it clean, creating awareness among villagers to reduce the usage of plastics and improve the usage of dustbins.
(e) Fifth day: Swachh Bharat awareness program was conducted.
(f) Sixth day: Socio-economic survey related to ornamental fish farming was done in and around the village.
(g) Seventh/final day: Eye camp assisted by Dr. Agarwal eye clinic, Chennai was conducted for the benefit of village people.
