STUDENTS OF FISHERIES COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE, THOOTHUKUDI BAGGED FIRST AND SECOND RANK IN ALL INDIA ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR POST GRADUATE ADMISSION CONDUCTED BY NATIONAL TESTING AGENCY (NTA)

Students of Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi, a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam secured First and Second Ranks in All India Entrance Examination (AIEEA) for seeking admission to postgraduate programmes in Fisheries Science conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India for Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The final year student belonging to 2016-17 batch Ms.S.Atshaya, who packed first rank in AIEEA, 2020 and other two students belongs to the same batch, Ms.A.Jancy Robina secured 2nd Rank and Mr.T.Ganesh Kumar in 4th rank ,were congratulated by the Dean Dr.B.Sundaramoorthi and other staff of Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi. On this occasion, Dr.B.Sundaramoorthi, Dean, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi also congratulated the other 12 students of the same batch for having bright chance to get into the ICAR seats. This examination was carried out on an annual basis in fisheries science for admission to postgraduate programmes in various fisheries universities in India. Students who have successfully completed Bachelor Degree in fisheries science from any fisheries colleges in India are eligible for this examination.

The selected candidates can avail ICAR’s reserved seats for master degree programme in any fisheries college under ICAR. The candidates who are selected for Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) will get a stipend of Rs.12,500 and Rs.7,500 for JRF and non JRF category respectively. In addition to this the candidates who are selected ICAR’s reserved seats in State Agricultural Universities will get a stipend of Rs.5000. The examination was based on multiple choice questions and the total duration of exam was 2 hours. A total of 120 questions were posed for a total of 480 marks. The results were released by the NTA on November 2, 2020 on its official website.
