Under the NADP scheme entitled “Kayalagam” – The Future Store for Amplification of Marketing of Diversified Fish Products in Tamil Nadu, a one-day awareness programme on “Business opportunities in value added fish products” was held at IFAD Training Centre, Thillaivilagam, Muthupettai on 12 th March 2020. Dr. P. Karthickumar, Assistant Professor and Co-Principal Investigator of the project welcomed the gathering and delivered a lecture on the need for value added fish products and the various products that are available under Kayalagam. Mr. M. Chellam, District Implementation Director, PSTP (Post Tsunami Livelihood Programme) inaugurated the programme and requested the beneficiaries to make use of the Kayalagam scheme by learning the preparation of value added fish products. Mr. R. Balasubramanian, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, PSTP spoke about funding and bank loan facilities for small enterprises. Dr. P. Karthickumar further proceeded with the program on explaining the nutritional value of seafood products, scope of business opportunities in value added fishery products, marketing strategies and facilities available in the established Kayalagm. Sixty three fisherwomen from eighteen SHG’s in and around Thillaivilagam were benefitted from the training programme. The awareness programme was coordinated by Dr. P. Karthickumar and Balan K.
