Report for Kurukshetra -19 (Inter-Collegiate Sports Meet)

The Dr. M.G.R. Fisheries College and Research Institute, Ponneri, has successfully organized and conducted the first inter-collegiate tournament in various games, its named as Kurukshetra-19 on 21.03.2019. The program was begun with inaugural function. The sports secretary, P. Velmurugan, briefed about the event of Kurukshetra. The respected Dean, Dr. B. Ahilan, was declared the Kurukshetra meet open by releasing of white pigeon.  The vice president of student association, Dr. D. Manikandavelu, has announced the tournament matches and introduce the match referee for football, volleyball and throw ball. At this sports meet, six colleges in volleyball, four colleges in football and three colleges in throw ball were participated.  Before the event began all the rules and regulation for various games was explained by Physical director Dr. Suruli muruganandam. Then the much awaited games football, volleyball and throw ball (women) event inaugurated by the Dean, Dr.M.G.R. FC&RI, Ponneri. The throw ball match for girls, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi clinched the first position followed by Dr. M.G.R. Fisheries College and Research Institute, Ponneri. In the volleyball match for men, the title won by Fisheries College and research institute, Thoothukudi.    

The atmosphere was charged with zeal and fervor with the called for the final football match between Dr. M.G.R.FCRI, Ponneri and FC&RI, Thoothukudi. The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the events, was involving mass student participants, which splattered on the field, a riot of hues and vibrancies. The team Dr. M.G.R. FCRI, Ponneri, was won the match.

The valedictory function was held at 6.30pm. Ramachandra Rao, District sports officer, Thiruvallur, was the Chief Guest. The Dean, Dr. M.G.R. FCRI, Ponneri, honored the chief guest and in his address emphasized on the importance of student participation in sports. After that the prizes were distributed. The individual championships for various games was awarded. The program ended with the vote of thanks given by Mr. K. Kavinesan, Games secretary, student association of Dr. M.G.R. FCRI, Ponneri.
