TNJFU-TECHNOLOGIES RELEASE -2025

The TNJFU-Technologies Release Programme – 2025 was successfully conducted at the Directorate of Incubation and Vocational Training in Aquaculture (DIVA), Muttukadu on 12.02.2025. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Honourable Minister for Fisheries, Fishermen Welfare and Animal Husbandry Thiru. Anitha R. Radhakrishnan. He inaugurated the shrimp farming operation in the lined ponds by releasing shrimp seeds into the pond.  The Honourable Minister also inaugurated the Technology Exhibition, where distinguished inventors showcased their latest innovations and technological advancements in the aquaculture sector.

The event was attended by Tmt. R. Gajalakshmi, IAS, Director of Fisheries,  Thiru. S. S. Balaji, Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Thiruporur, along with Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Director, Directorate of Incubation and Vocational training in Aquaculture, Director of Research, TNJFU, University officials, technology inventors, progressive farmers, staff of TNJFU and CMR Feeds and Bio Supplements Pvt. Ltd., researchers and students. The programme commenced with an invocation and lighting of the lamp, setting a solemn and inspiring tone for the day's proceedings.

Honourable Vice-Chancellor, TNJFU, Dr. N. Felix delivered the welcome address, extended his warm greetings to the esteemed dignitaries.  The Vice-Chancellor highlighted TNJFU’s continuous efforts in promoting innovation and sustainable aquaculture practices, emphasizing the importance of academia-industry collaboration in advancing fisheries technologies.

Honourable Minister Thiru. Anitha R. Radhakrishnan delivered an insightful Presidential address on the significance of technological advancements in the fisheries sector. He underscored the Government's commitment to supporting innovation and sustainable aquaculture practices to enhance the livelihoods of fisherfolk.

Tmt. R. Gajalakshmi, IAS, Commissioner/Director of Fisheries in her special address, provided an overview of recent trends in fisheries and the sector's crucial role in strengthening the national economy. She elaborated on the growing contribution of fish production to food security and employment generation.

Thiru. S. S. Balaji, Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Thiruporur in his special address, highlighted various government schemes and subsidies aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of fisherfolk. He encouraged beneficiaries to utilize these schemes effectively for enhancing their productivity and income.

Tmt. Mohana Rekha, Managing Director, CMR Feeds and Bio Supplements Pvt. Ltd., emphasized the significance of cost-efficient aquafeed in increasing shrimp production. She discussed the role of nutritionally balanced feed in improving the health and growth rate of farmed shrimp, thereby benefiting small and large-scale farmers alike.

The TNJFU-Technologies Release Programme – 2025 marked yet another milestone in the university’s mission to bridge the gap between research and real-world applications, ensuring that advancements in fisheries and aquaculture benefit stakeholders at all levels.

The compendium of seventeen technologies developed by TNJFU was released by the Honourable Minister for the benefit of the farming community

The Honorable Minister for Fisheries, Fishermen Welfare, and Animal Husbandry, along with other dignitaries, officially launched CMR Vannamei shrimp Feed, a new formulation made by TNJFU to optimize shrimp growth and productivity. As part of the launch, feed bags were distributed to farmers, symbolizing the transfer of technology from research to field applications.

Director of Research, TNJFU delivered the vote of tanks. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries, university officials, industry representatives, technology innovators, and participants for their contributions in making the event a grand success. He reiterated TNJFU’s dedication to driving innovation and fostering sustainable growth in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
