The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU), launched the online application for the current year’s (2025-26) undergraduate admissions on 02.06.2025 at 10:00am and address the gathering. The Vice-Chancellor in his address, highlighted the University’s role in imparting professional fisheries education and conducting research and training for enhancing fish production and productivity. He briefed on the 8 undergraduate courses (5 professional and 3 paraprofessional) offered through its 10 constituent colleges and 1 affiliated private college.
He added that 398 candidates will be admitted to the constituent colleges and 55 candidates to the affiliated private college in this academic year including various quotas [ICAR quota – 18 seats, Eminent Sports Person – 4 seats, Ex-serviceman- 4 seats, Differently Abled (5% of the sanctioned strength), Students studied from Government Schools (7.5% of the sanctioned strength) and Vocational Stream (5% of the sanctioned strength) as per Govt. direction] and categories [Andaman and Nicobar Islands – 7 Nos. (B.F.Sc.– 2 & B.Tech. - 5), Fishermen Community Ward – 25 Nos.(5% & 15%), NRI – 14 Nos., Foreign Nationals – 5 Nos., Kashmiri migrants – 2 Nos. [One each for B.F.Sc. and B.Tech (Fisheries Engineering)] and self-finance seats for B.F.Sc. – 20 Nos.].
The fees for the students admitted under the fishermen category (5% of sanctioned strength) will be sponsored by the Tamil Nadu Fishermen Welfare Board (TNFWB). The students from the fishermen community of Tamil Nadu can avail this wonderful opportunity for getting admission to this University. The students applying under Special Categories should upload relevant documents while filling out the online application. Application guidelines and prospectus for UG programmes can be downloaded from the university website www.admission.tnjfu.ac.in from 02.06.2025 at 10:00 am onwards. The last date for submission of the online application is 27.06.2025 untill 05:00 pm. The students are advised not to send their application by post. The application fee is Rs. 150/- for SC/ SCA/ ST and Rs. 300/- for Others.
The rank list will be released based on the cut-off marks obtained in HSC. The counselling will be conducted online. However, the counselling for the candidates who have applied under special categories will be conducted in person and the date will be informed later, the Vice-Chancellor added.
