The 79 th Independence Day was celebrated with great pride and enthusiasm at the Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU), Nagapattinam on 15 th August 2025. Respected Vice-Chancellor Dr. N. Felix hoisted the National Flag at the TNJFU Administrative Building, Vettar River View Campus. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, in his Independence Day address, paid tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and saluted the leaders. Emphasising the theme of ‘Naya Bharat’, reflecting the nation’s ambition to become prosperous, secure, and self-reliant, in line with the Centre’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, he highlighted the increase in the growth of per capita income and GDP from 1947 to 2025. He also stated that challenges can be overcome by developing indigenous technologies and become self-reliant.
The celebrations featured patriotic cultural performances by students of the College of Fisheries Engineering, Nagapattinam. Dr. P. Chidambaram, Registrar, TNJFU, welcomed the gathering, and Dr. N. Manimehalai, Dean (i/c), College of Fisheries Engineering, proposed the vote of thanks. University officers, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students participated in the event.
