The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) inaugurated a 14-day Skill Training Programme on “Basic Shrimp Culture Techniques to Shrimp Farming Assistants” under the Naan Mudhalvan Finishing School (NMFS) initiative at the Directorate of Incubation and Vocational Training in Aquaculture (DIVA), Muttukadu, Chengalpattu district.
As part of the inaugural event, the Vice Chancellor also released shrimp seeds into the lined ponds of DIVA, symbolizing the practical orientation of the training. The programme was scheduled from 09.09.2025 to 24.09.2025 with 25 enrolled trainees who will be imparted hands-on training and technical knowledge in shrimp seed management, pond preparation, feed management, water quality monitoring, and disease prevention practices. This initiative reflects TNJFU’s continuous efforts to build a skilled workforce for the aquaculture sector, aligning with the objectives of the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC). Dr.A.Uma, Director of DIVA has welcomed the gathering and highlighted the institute’s ongoing efforts in capacity building, vocational training and industry collaboration.
