"Harnessing the Science of Fisheries for Food, Nutrition and Livelihood"


Outreach services are provided by this laboratory for the benefit of fish processers, fish quality control technologists, scientists, researchers, self help groups (SHGs) and interested entrepreneurs. They are

  • Analytical services by way of sample analysis are given to fish processing industries, fish meal plants, universities, researchers on charge basis as approved by the University.
  • Special need-based training programmes on quality and safety testing of fish products are being conducted regularly. Few tailor-made programmes are

    • Microbial testing of fish and fish products
    • Rapid methods in fish quality assessments
    • Chemical residue analysis of fish products
    • Quality analysis dry fish, fish meal and oil
    • Molecular methods for bacterial pathogen detection
    • Rapid methods in fish quality assessments
    • Molecular authentication of processed fish products
  • International / National Scientific events are being organized on the theme on emerging issues in quality and safety of fish and shellfish periodically (i.e once in four years)
